My favorite place to get soup dumplings! It tastes authentic and perfect. Service is always quick. I have only gotten take out but would like to dine-in one day if it is convenient. I have also tried their Shanghai noodles and it was pretty tasty as well. Ambiance seems pretty decent since it is located in a small shopping center. This is my go-to spot when I am craving Shanghainese food in Queens.

If i'm craving soup dumplings and want to avoid the bustle/crowds, i come here. The soup dumplings they serve are consistently decent and they hit the spot. There are other food items on the menu such as the stir fried and bowl of noodles that are tasty. They are also reasonably priced for the amount of food they serve. The service is usually attentive. This restaurant has gotten busier lately, so it's a good thing for the restaurant. However. I don't want to begin a new search for another less crowded spot to get my xlb fix.

Came in on Saturday night for family dinner and eldest sister was running late, but my in laws arrived super early, fortunately the staff here was patient and let us take our time gathering our people! My daughter loves shengjianbao so Ama found Lao Yu Yuan as a Shanghainese option in the area. We ended up ordering kind of a lot of food and had leftovers to take home in the end! There is a cold appetizers section, so we tried their gluten appetizer (kaofu) and special yellow chicken. Chicken was tender and you cannot miss the delicious savory sauce. The manager? recommended the eel noodles which was so flavorful and a dish I hadn't tried before. Rice cakes had the perfect chewy texture And they served us complimentary xiaolongbao for ordering above their threshold. I also love the decor, it feels bright and open. It's a smallish space but comfortable for groups. Loved everything we tried!

Hidden inside the first floor of an apt. complex is this great spot for soup dumplings and a variety of traditional breakfast dishes and fresh soy milk. This is located near Franklin Ave. and Main Street minutes away from the center of downtown Flushing. We ordered some light snacks and noodles and everything was fresh and tasty. The soup dumplings were great as well. Service was friendly and attentive.

Only tried their XLB but they definitely hit it out of the park! Skin was so thin and the dumplings had a decent amount of soup. So tasty and closest to what I'd replicate on my own when I make them. Yum! Restaurant is tucked away towards the back of a mall. You have to walk a bit from Main Street to get here, but it's worth it to avoid the usual bustle of this area. Service was also quite good though they largely speak Chinese so if you don't, this may differ. Will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu!

I was planning my weekly Flushing trip when my friend suggested this soup dumpling restaurant that just happened to show up on Tiktok. I find Tiktok to be quite distasteful, but now slightly less so, for putting Lao Yu Yuan in my sights. We had such an fantastic lunch there. We got there around 1pm on a Sunday - the restaurant was bustling, and fortunately we were able to be seated after the efficient servers shuffled some tables/chairs around for us. This efficiency also extended to the kitchen, thankfully, since we got our food super quickly after ordering. Sweet soymilk (甜豆漿) was very good - it was very warming and comforting, not too sweet at all, and relatively inexpensive (at $2.50). Scallion pancake with beef (蔥油餅夾牛肉) was really delicious as well. The wrapper was very crispy and the beef was tender and very savoury. There was just the right amount of scallions inside too (idk sometimes other places put way too much scallions inside and it drowns out the flavour and texture). The soup dumplings (鮮肉小籠包) were Really delicious! So much soup (I may or may not have spilled a lot onto my pants), really thin skins, and such fragrant, juicy pork fillings. The chilli oil wontons (紅油抄手) were fantastic, too. Portion size was a little larger than I expected, and the chilli oil smelled so good! An interesting tidbit is that our server asked us if we needed to validate parking, and when we said no, she said she'd send us an extra order of the soup dumplings for free. I'm not sure if this is because we spent above a certain amount, or if they have some costs associated with parking validation, etc. but it was a nice treat regardless. Overall a super delicious, and at such a great price :0 Everything we ordered above was $10 at most, and we even had enough to take home for... maybe half a meal apiece? Ordering was a bit difficult bc honestly everything on their menu looked so delicious. I can't wait to come again and try everything :)

Pork dumplings that taste the closest to what grams used to make. Very consistent in the way they make their dishes. Every time we go there we end up ordering more than we can finish at the place. Have gotten good service during each visit. The atmosphere is very casual. This place is definitely one of my go-tos. The restaurant sits inside of a mall that seems to be falling out of the masses favor. Most of the retail stores in it are now closed. I hope other restaurants open in their place to keep the mall open.
